As winter transitions to spring across Vancouver Island, it's a great time to consider a skin care refresh. Rejuvenate your skin now to enjoy a fresh, vibrant appearance in 2019. Below, we provide some tips and insights on how to do so.
4 Tips for Renewing Your Skin Before Winter's End
It's important to get custom recommendations for your skin and any skin symptoms you are experiencing. But in general, these 4 tips should get you on your way to revitalization:
- Use a moisturizer. Moisturization creates a protective barrier between your skin and the cold, drying climate of winter. Moisturizing also locks in your skin's natural hydration. We will help you choose the right cream or lotion for your skin, such as SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore. This treatment restores lipids in your skin that diminish naturally with age.
- Use sunscreen. It's true, the sun is often hiding on Vancouver Island. But it remains very important to wear sunscreen outside, even in the winter. Although you may not feel the sensation of the sun on your skin on a cloudy day, your skin is being exposed to ultraviolet rays nonetheless. Although the rays are less intense than on a clear day, they are potent enough to damage your skin anyway.
- Consider intense pulsed light treatment. IPL is a laser treatment, also known as a photofacial. The intense pulsed light therapy works from the inside out, prompting your skin to produce new collagen and elastin. It reduces brown spots, age spots, sun spots and other sun damage. The winter is a great time to get IPL because your skin is probably not tan right now. Because IPL works by targeting the darker patches on your skin, the treatment can be less effective when all of the tissue is darker because of a tan.
- Consider leg vein treatment. The winter/spring seasons are also a great time to treat leg veins, making it possible to have enviably smooth, beautiful legs by summertime. While you can of course get these non-surgical spider vein procedures any time of year, during the winter you'll be concealing your healing legs under pants, leggings, tights and long dresses. Healing will be complete in time for shorts season.
