Skin tags are common growths which can be both unsightly and uncomfortable when rubbing against your clothing. Many patients find moles become elevated and darker with the years. Experienced dermatologist Dr. Gabriele Weichert and board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Philip Barnsley can remove your skin tags and moles safely, quickly and virtually painlessly.

What Are Skin Tags?
Skin tags are small, benign small flaps of tissue that protrude from the skin. These growths are composed entirely of skin tissue and painless, unless they become irritated by rubbing on clothing. Skin tags appear in areas of friction, such as:
- Folds of skin
- Under the arms
- Around the neckline
- In the groin area
- Under the breasts
Skin tags grow slowly over time and usually do not go away. They are more common in individuals at or beyond middle age.
Skin Tag Treatment
Acrochordons, commonly referred to as skin tags, are benign growths that often form in areas of friction. During your consultation with Dr. Weichert or Dr. Barnsley, they will fully assess your skin tags and recommend the treatment that is most appropriate for your condition.
Skin tags can be safely snipped off or removed with electrosurgery under the care of an experienced doctor. Multiple tags can be removed no the same visit. Patients are especially pleased with a "skin tag clean-up" from the neck and armpit areas.
When Should I Get My Skin Tags, Cysts or Moles Checked by a Doctor?
Although at their worst skin tags are simply pesky and unattractive, ignoring them isn’t always the best decision. On their own, skin tags are harmless. However, on rare occasions some signs could potentially lead to something else. Any changing mole or cyst (bleeding, significant change in size, shape or colour) should be evaluated by a doctor.
When you have a skin tag, you should be able to see it, but not necessarily feel it. If you have a skin tag that is red, itchy or irritating, it may be a sign of another type of infection or worse. Obtaining the opinion of a dermatologist can give you piece of mind and ensure that your skin tag is completely normal.
How Much Does Skin Tag/Mole/Cyst Removal Cost?
Dr. Weichert and Dr. Barnsley can safely remove your skin tags through excision, cryosurgery or electrocautery treatment. Moles require surgical shave or excision removal and are $300 - $400 per site. Cysts are $400 per site. The cost of skin tag removal at Synergy Medical Aesthetics starts at $200 per area and may vary depending on the unique circumstances of your condition and whether you choose to combine your procedure with other non-surgical treatments to refresh and rejuvenate your skin.
